What's a Whistle Punk?

In the days of logging with steam engines (steam donkeys), the whistle punk was a lumberjack who operated the signal wire running to a donkey engine whistle.

As our business plan was brewing we knew we needed a unique name, but also wanted to be true to the area. Knowing that Stone Lake has a prominent logging history, we stumbled across "whistle punk" in our research. It sounded funny to us at first, but we soon began to think, "Hey, that could work". We fell in love with the name, and are proud to carry that history forward.
